Rodarte, made tulle and silk creations to dress fashion icon and star of the movie, Natalie Portman, who plays a distressed prima ballerina.
Rodarte’s aesthetic fits the tension of the film. Portman’s character, Nina, is plagued by her own pressures as a ballerina. The conflict lies solely in her own mind. Rodarte does a wonderful job of externalizing those feelings in their moody interpretation.

Rodarte also succeeds in updating the look of the 19th century classical ballet, Swan Lake. The received help from Swarovski who donated 250,000 crystals.
Several other scenes in the movie portrayed the women in beautiful evening gowns and the men in well-tailored suits.
